Recruit Profile: Elliott Pitts

According to former San Francisco coach, Philippe Doherty, 2013 guard Elliott Pitts has received an offer from the Zags. He had a good showing at the Pangos All-American camp. Elliott is a 6-5 wing out of Concord, CA. Rivals.com lists most of the PAC 12, WCC, and Big West on his list. However even Georgetown and Boston College have shown interest. ESPN.com has Pitts as the 72nd best player in 2013.


Most scouting reports list Elliott as having an amazing jump shot, he is supposed to have the ability to knock it down with consistency from all over the court. He has the ability to penetrate the lane and create his own offense. His passing ability is above average. In a recent write up by Eric Bossi:

"One of the weekend's big winners has been Concord (Calif.) De Lasalle wing Elliott Pitts. The 6-foot-5 wing from the class of 2013 is skilled, can shoot and is an outstanding passer off of the dribble. With good quickness and the ability to make plays for himself or others, the junior had a crowd following him on Saturday. Pitts said that he has offers already from Santa Clara, Portland, UC Davis, Cal, Boston College, Arizona State and San Francisco and they were all on hand with lots of others. According to Pitts, he's taken unofficial visits to Cal, San Francisco and Santa Clara and is in the process of setting up visits with UCLA, Stanford and Georgetown. Pitts is in no hurry to decide and is taking a broad approach. "I think academics will play a big role in my decision," said Pitts of what he's looking for. "If I don't play after college I want to know that I will have a good degree."

Dave Telep of ESPN.com had this to say:

"The cerebral, skilled forwards always carry a premium tag. Pitts isn’t a one-trick pony with a single shot. He’s a handler, passer and shooter. The great shooters aren’t married to a single spot on the floor and Pitts can make shots from midrange and deep. His overall feel for the game is easy to spot and has to be valued. He needs strength to handle versus pressure and play through contact. It’s a credit to his game that Pitts is tough to pin down position-wise."

 And Joel Francisco:

 "Pitts plays with great pace and he is always on balance (utilizes the jump stop) when converting play after play. He can knock down jump shots from all over the court and he’s an excellent driver (solid first step) as well. He is one of the few players who have a solid midrange game to boot and he appears to be getting more confident with each event."

Its likely that Elliott is going to continue to rise on the lists as he becomes a better known commodity. He seems like a well adjusted kid who has an especially bright future. We expect the staff to go hard after Elliott has he fits the program and would make a nice addition at the wing. We will keep you informed as we learn more about Elliotts recruitment.
