Recruit Profile: Lucas Meikle

According to Mason Kelley of the Seattle Times, Luke Meikle has verbally committed to Gonzaga for 2013. From what we can tell at the moment, he is a 6-8 Forward who plays for Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma, WA. The only recruit profile i could find on him was at MaxPreps.com At this point he seems to be a relatively unknown player not on most teams radars. He did manage to visit the campus a couple weeks ago and i guess the staff was fairly impressed with him as they did in fact offer him a scholarship. Read more after the Jump.

There was a write up on him at Left Coast Recruiting back in February. In the write up they mentioned that he had heard from UW, Wazzu, Gonzaga, Boise St., Cal, Seattle, and Nevada. But at that time he had yet to get an offer.

It seems the staff may have got in early on Luke and made a decision that his game was improving enough for him to be ready come 2013. At this point it would be a fair assessment to say he is a raw project and will probably warrant a redshirt when he arrives on campus. Perhaps 2-3 years down the road he will be ready to contribute solid minutes for the Zags. We will keep you posted on any updates about Luke. GO ZAGS!

Here are a couple clips of Luke in action:

Nice find Josh!

You were one of the first to break the news on this recruit.

Great write up and very well presented. The vids tie in nicely.

Nice to have an early recruit. Hopefully he will be a hidden gem.

Should we start getting nervous about not hearing anything from PK? I was hoping his "commit soon" meant a couple of days at most. We are now on day 4 I believe. I know intellectually 4 days is not long but I would like to get him wrapped up as soon as possible.

PK's father recently mentioned that his son will make a decision before May 15th...Doesn't mean he will take all of that time, but id be surprised if he commits right away. He seems like hes got a good head on his shoulders, and the smart thing to do is weigh all your options before you make such a big commitment.

I think the Zags have a 70% chance of landing him over Cal right now, i think he really enjoyed his time here and the pull of playing with a Point like Kevin Pangos might be too strong for him. Time will tell though.
