Update on Injury and Status of Angel Nunez

As for now, there is no official word on whether Angel Nunez is transferring, or staying at Gonzaga for his senior season. Two weeks ago he won his appeal for a medical red-shirt and is eligible for another season. Recently he was injured in practice and was held out of the two games last week as a precaution because of concussion-like symptoms. It has not been medically determined as to if he has a concussion, but the staff is holding him out of games as a precautionary measure. He is day to day.

Glad Nunez got the additional year. While I hate to see any Zag leave, I have had a hard time seeing him fit into the flow of the team. If he does go, I hope he is careful and honest with himself about his own strengths and weaknesses, and lands in a spot where he has a chance to be successful.

An ESPN analyst once said "Nunez is a prospect with immense talent and staggering potential on the wing."

Additionally, Louisville coach Rick Pitino said that Nunez reminded him of former NBA 1st round pick and Cardinal All-American, Francisco Garcia, who led them to a Final 4.

Certainly Nunez has to be disappointed at how things have turned out so far.

I hope whatever he chooses to do next, whatever that may be, turns out to be the best...for him.
