Sorry, hard to take the writers of this site seriously when they have us as the number 1 team in the country.

3 out of the 5 writers on this site have Gonzaga as the #1 team in the country actually, and im one of them. Indiana is overrated in my opinion, everyone else has us as #2, is it really that far of a leap to #1? Indiana could feasibly lose to Minnesota tonight...

I write for this site and I had Gonzaga as #2. Do I think we are worthy of a #1 ranking? Yes, with the way we are playing I do think so.

However; with Indiana having zero games last week, I didn't feel they could possibly lose a spot. If they lose two of their next four, I would move Gonzaga up to #1.

Rankings are different though, they really measure a teams "hotness" factor. How many wins they can string together in a row, who they have played, etc. Voters for AP and Coaches poll mostly look at scores and wins.

If you want an in depth analysis of how Gonzaga stacks up from a numbers standpoint with the top 5 in the country, read the post below: Gonzaga by the Numbers.

Thanks for reading.

The Gonzaga by the numbers article was informative. Thank you. Ultimately rankings are like political arguments on facebook: irrelevant and a waste of time. I have watched every Gonzaga game this year and we are good--really good. Indiana beat Michigan St. at MSU last week. We beat SCU and USD at home. To say Indiana is overrated is flat silly. What exactly does that mean? They have earned every bit of their ranking. There is just no quicker way to lose credibility than to look like a group of total homers.

we may end up being right...

I think next week we could be 1!

Haha looks like this argument was just rendered moot... I was gonna say something about how Indiana passes the eyeball test and that I think they would beat us by a good margin, but a loss is a loss! Duke will probably jump us and end up as #1, but I don't think they end the season without picking up another loss. Also, Florida lost. Lunardi is gonna have a busy weekend.

Too funny,

Indiana loses on que. They lost to an unranked Minnesota, who had a record of 6-8 and 17-9. Well, now Indy has done something we haven't done. We've both lost to Butler and Illinios....but not Minnesota!

And Florida? People were saying they would still jump us, even if we win out. Yet they have lost 2 of 3?

Lovin it!

I can't believe someone came in here and called me a homer, lol

Maybe we'll change the site name to Homers R US.

That really did make my day. :-)

I think Indiana is overrated because when the chips are down on the road they fall flat...like last night, cant say i didnt call that one...

Josh did call it, lol.

There just does not seem to be a team that wants it this year. Except maybe the Zags, but nobody wants them to get there.

All the Zags are doing is winning, and climbing the polls. I have never heard so much fuss over a team maybe becoming #1 and it's getting irritating.

OK, if it helps everybody out, lets put a disclaimer on all future polls that limit mid-majors from reaching the top, no matter what their record is, or how many losses other competing teams have.

Does that seem fair? Sheesh.
