Recruit Profile: Elijah Brown
According to ESPN.com, Mark Few and Tommy Lloyd were in attendance at Fab 48 watching Elijah Brown who attends Mater Dei in Santa Ana, CA. Elijah is a 6-3 combo guard in the class of 2013, who happens to be Mike Browns son (Mike is the head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA). He has been offered by Saint Mary's, San Francisco, San Diego, James Madison, Toledo, Kent St., and Akron and has received interest from several Pac-12 schools, Texas, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Iowa, and Wisconsin as well.
Most accounts have him as more of a slashing scorer than an adept passer. He is supposed to have good range out to 19 feet and has improved a lot in the last year with his jump shot. He is more of a slasher who can break down the defense and create his shot around the basket. He has persevered through a lot of criticism regarding his father from opposing fans and players alike, showing he has strong will and resolve. There is plenty of room in his game for improvement, and he could be someone who the staff could have a chance to take some time with.
At this time its likely we are getting involved a little late in his recruitment, most of the big players are standing by waiting for him to continue his improvement before they offer. Id say that if the staff feels he is good enough to compete in the WCC they should offer soon to get in early. We would immediately be his best offer right now. The question is will he try to stay close to his father in California? or because he has bounced around a lot from Ohio to Cali will he be ok with moving on to a new place? We will see in the coming months. We will keep you posted as we learn more about Elijah's recruitment. As always, GO ZAGS!
