Alex Kline of the recruit scoop is reporting via twitter that the Zags have shown interest in Savon Goodman. Savon is a 6-6 Wing built very well and is currently ranked by Rivals.com as the 72nd best player in the Class of 2012. Read more after the Jump.
Savon hails from Philadelphia and is being heavily recruited by most of the northeast. Schools like Villanova, Seton Hall, Maryland, Saint Joe's, Saint John's, Temple, and Penn State are all over him. He also recently added some western schools to the mix in Kansas, Missouri, UCLA, and UNLV. Savon De-committed from Villanova last August. Scout.com had this to say:
"Goodman looks like he could play football as well as basketball. There is no better physical specimen in the class, and he uses that strength and athleticism to his advantage. Goodman loves to drive to the bucket and finish through contact. Also he attacks the glass. Shooting is a major growth area for Goodman has he can really struggle from beyond the arc and in the mid-range."At this time the Zags appear to be long shots to land his services, however it is interesting to see them jump into Savon's recruitment late. Perhaps they are just throwing a hail mary and if they can get Savon to come out to Spokane they feel they could probably get him to commit. Another theory is that if Savon re-classifies to 2013 as some feel he might do, then the Zags still have a plethora of time to get involved. We will keep you posted as we learn more about Savons recruitment. As always, GO ZAGS!
