Recruit Profile: Mouhammadou Jaiteh

According to basketactu.com, Mouhammadou Jaiteh of France will be taking a visit to see both Gonzaga and UW in the coming days. Here is the direct translated article from french:
"The young prospect is soon to go to the U.S. to visit universities. Resident of INSEP, Muhammadu Jaiteh of envy. It must be said that the potential of the pivotal 2m07 impressive wingspan is promising. With the federal center, he turned to a double-double average of N1 (14.3 points and 10.2 rebounds average. Reportedly, Jaiteh must go soon to the USA to visit the universities of Washington and Gonzaga (where is that Ronny Turiaf)."

Jaiteh is an extremely raw prospect on the offensive end of the floor, he has very poor footwork, and little agility. When in close to the basket he seems to be able to convert, but will not be able to create his own inside shot for some time. He has a very low basketball IQ, often making poor passes and missteps creating turnovers for the opponent. It is likely he would need a long time to develop to be effective on the offensive end at the D1 level. Defensively, he seems to have good hands for rebounding and has shown a knack for going after the ball in the past. Despite his large frame and long arms he is not a very skilled shot blocker.

At this point we feel he is a huge project, who could potentially take 3 years before he would be able to provide solid minutes as a backup center for the zags. It is likely he will sit on the end of the bench and learn before he gets much action. If he does sign, perhaps the zags would do well to convince Ronny Turiaf to come to town during the summers and give him some 1 on 1 tutelage in french.

He is by no means a lock to come to Spokane right now, we're not even sure the staff is 100% on board with bringing him in, this may be in fact a chance for them to work him out and get a look at what he could bring to the table. Washington also figures to be a player in his recruitment. We will keep you posted as we learn more about Jaiteh. As always, GO ZAGS!

Here is a clip of Jaiteh in action:

Do you guys go on TSSF and see what they post, and then post the exact same thing on your blog?

No. We follow the same people on twitter, we all have sources on campus and within various recruiting organiztions. We get the same stories, we are both Zag blogs. Sometimes they beat us, sometimes we beat them, we write our own material, they write theirs. Different blogs.

Interesting that you would ask that question.

I'd like to chime in. My last two posts were of an interview by Rob Sacre and the other was on a scheduling update regaring West Virginia. If you go to TSSFs you will notice the same 2 posts. I posted the ones on this site first.

No big deal to me. News gets around, sometimes one blog beats another blog to it. You didn't mention anything about our contest or player interview that are solely on this site, did you miss that?...Just curious.

Thanks for your question.

I like having more than 1 or 2 places to read Gonzaga news. Thanks for giving us another place to find info on our Zags.
