This is an opinion poll of all of our writers, some had the zags as high as #3 (me) and some as low as #9. Cuse is far from some magnificent team. They just lost to nova and struggled with Cincinnati. Their "marquee" win over Louisville was awfully close and UL has since skidded. On the contrary I've though cuse to be overrated all year.

I'm impressed how close your writer's rankings are each week compared to the national rankings. However, each week there is a bit of homerism going on! I love it though!

One troubling stat that I have noticed since conference play began (7 games including Butler), is that we have been out scored in the second half three times: st. Mary's, Butler and San Francisco. We did play our bench a lot for San Fran so I am okay with that.

Santa Clara tied us in the second half so it was good we had the lead to start the second. Byu we only scored one more point than them in the second half.

The only other teams we scored more in the second half was against Pepperdine and Portland. Any reason this should not be of concern to me? Anyone else find this troubling?

I think your analysis is correct. I'll just add a couple things.

Where Pepperdine and Portland are concerned, our bench is stronger than their best lineup.

Where SF is concerned, I think Few took his foot of the throttle and the refs were a bit more 'liberal' with their calls. I would also add that SF never quit -- not a bit. That is a team with a lot of heart.

Where BYU was concerned, that's just a pretty good team with a pretty good coach. If you will recall, the refs were atrocious in that game -- extremely inconsistent. Actually I think GU was getting most of the calls so that cannot account for BYU doing well in the second half. Just chalk it up to us getting out played in the second half -- but not by much.

I do not like it one bit.

It seems in the past we would get up big on many of the lesser WCC teams and then put in our benchys to get them experience, rest our starters, while also helping to protect players from injury.

Of course, earlier on it seemed like we didn't get going until the second half. Now it is reversed.

Few is on record of saying it would be nice to get a few "30 or 40 point blowouts", so this slippage in the second half is apparently not by design.
