WCC on the rise, Jabari Parker, and Robert Sacre?

So as Gonzaga was whooping Campbell last night, a few thoughts crossed my mind...

First off.  The WCC is a good conference. Of the 32 NCAA Division 1 conferences, only 4 currently have all teams sitting with .500 or above records. These four conferences are the ACC, the Big East, the Big 12, and the WCC. I will note that the Big 10, PAC 12, and the Mountain West each only have one team preventing them from making this list.  (I don't even want to talk about the SEC, BLUH!)

What does this mean? This may be the WCC's best top-to-bottom conference ever. Every year critics rave about how this is the best the WCC has been, but I think they are right. The WCC has been trending up ever since Gonzaga made that first NCAA Tourney run. Would Gonzaga leave the conference they helped build into a quality presence in Division 1 Basketball for the all Catholic League? I'm not sure, but I do know it will be a very tough decision.

Secondly, Jabari Parker, next year's top recruit in the nation, could possibly be heading to BYU.  He is Mormon and has expressed heavy interest in BYU, along with the other schools that belong in the list for a top recruit;  Duke, Florida, and Michigan State (Stanford is on his list as well, and refreshingly, he has dismissed Kentucky).

What can this do for the WCC? It will bring the conference immediate National Media attention. As you have seen this year with Shabazz Muhammad, you don't even have to be playing to be brought up constantly by ESPN. Gonzaga vs BYU games would most likely land on national television, and when Gonzaga beats the team with the top recruit in the nation (as we did with Kevin Durant and Texas in Dallas not too long ago) then maybe it will be time where Gonzaga begins to land 5 star recruits.

This is what ESPN's Reggie Rankin had to say:  At BYU, Parker could play with a recruiting class already ranked No. 17 in the nation that is vastly underrated. He’d also be the highest-ranked player to sign in the history of the program and the best player at BYU probably since Danny Ainge. He would be the go-to guy from day one and play for a terrific coach in Dave Rose who will build the offense around him and run it through him. Finally, he could satisfy and build upon his religious commitment while playing college basketball.

As much as I love beating BYU, I am rooting for Jabari to join the WCC.

Finally, just for fun, you got to love, and possibly be embarrassed for Rob Sacre right now. He is being dubbed as the Peer Leader for his awesome skills off the bench for the lakers: WATCH: PEER LEADER  Me personally?  I love it!  Keep it up Rob!
