IMO Steven Gray had the best/coolest hair when he was a Senior. However, I also think he had the worst hair as a junior.
In his senior year, those dreadlocks reminded me of the movie character Predator. He would have been an awesome predator warrior/hunter because of his pin point accuracy from long distance, and his solid defensive/stealth ability. The image of Steven Gray that first comes to mind that most resembles the predator was the WCC championship game against Saint Mary's, with Gray bleeding from the forehead like a true predator/warrior.
In his third year, Gray had this mini fro haircut with a headband to hold it in place. I believe he debuted this cut in the Maui tourney. I spend too much time trying to figure out what kind of cut it actually was during the game. Needless to say b/c of how much I was distracted during games by his hair, I also give Steven the worst hair cut.
Chris Sarbaugh has the best hair because it can help him convert when be is diving and gets fouled. You may be wondering "How can a haircut help a player like that?" Well I'll tell you how. Sarbaugh's soon-to-be-famous fro, much like Nike's Pro Combat series of compression wear, helps absorb the force of defenders fouling him. When he drives to the basket and he cuts through the sea of opposing hands, his hair with deflect them and protect him. Imagine if he were bald. Not only would he have looked scary on the bench this last season, but any fouls to the head would leave him stunned or injured. With his fro he can drive and take as many shots to the head as he wants and still finish and go for an And-One. Much will be said about his shooting and defense in clutch situations but remember the secret in is the hair.
I agree with Gerry on this one. Stevens Locks were so amazing as a senior that my wife, who previously had not taken much interest in the Zags (She is a born and raised Louisville fan) suddenly became enamored with the team and watched every game with me, just so she could see Stevens long flowing dreadlocks...of course i didnt really care to much for this, but i have to admit Steven wore his locks well. Its a shame to see in recent videos of his time in Europe that he has cut them all off.
I would love an update on Steven. Anybody?
I will get on that STAT! lol
For me it was Ronny's, it might not have always been the craziest but I always seem to remember back when I was at GU he would alternate between the giant fro and his cornrows every time we lost.
So Micheal, are you saying that everytime we lost he was wearing the cornrows? Or the giant fro?
Curious as to which style he would WIN games while wearing.
I hated the giant fro and thought the corn rows made him look cooler, and perhaps helped him play better, lol.
