Recruit Profile: Tristan Etienne

There is a very talented post player developing north of the border. Not many know of Tristan Etienne yet, but he is in the class of 2014 and his recruitment is in its early stages. He is 6-10 forward, out of Abbotsford, BC(about an hour from Vancouver). He will probably grow another couple inches before college, setting himself up to be a true 7 footer. Recently, Tristan underwent open heart surgery, doctors discovered a hole in one of the chambers of his heart. He is now back on the court and playing full time again.

From what we have seen of Tristan he is very quick for his size, he has great timing and awareness for shot blocking. He is very thin, definitely will need more time in the weight room. His footwork is very, very good for someone his age. He seems to have great court awareness and routinely makes the extra pass out of double teams for his teammate to finish. He has shown a developing mid range game out to about 15 feet. He can handle the ball with either hand and finish in a variety of ways in the low post. He is not the most vocal of players, and some have questioned his confidence, however he does seem to enjoy the game considerably and will probably develop more confidence as his talents explode onto the American AAU circuit.

Recently we reached out to Tristans coach, Pasha Bains and inquired on his recruitment.  Pasha stated that GU is aware of Tristan as well as another recent recruit we profiled, Jadon Cohee. Expect them to be very involved in Tristans recruitment as time goes on. Gonzaga, Washington, Purdue, Santa Clara, Washington State, and Portland have been following Tristan so far. Hopefully the staff has a chance to be very involved with Tristan in the early recruiting process. We will keep you posted as we learn more. As always, GO ZAGS!
