Mathis Mönninghoff and Elias Harris Invited to Join German National Team

According to FibaEurope.com, both Elias Harris and Mathis Mönninghoff have been invited to join the German National Team this summer in preparation to qualify for the 2013 EuroBasket tournament in Slovenia. The training camp will be held June 19-21 near Berlin. After the training camp the German team will then compete in Qualification Round Group B against Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Luxembourg and Sweden. Their first game will be on August 18 at home vs Luxembourg.

While some might be frustrated with both Harris and Mönninghoff losing time with the Zags this summer, we should step back and realize this is a great opportunity to both players futures and allow them the freedom to represent their nation. We wish Elias and Mathis good health and good luck!

I could have sworn that E stayed on campus last year because he felt being here was very important to help gell and get better.

And, coupled with the fact that he suffered a shoulder injury playing off season for FIBA that hampered him his sophomore season I am shocked that he would not stay on campus for his last season.

The only thing I can think is that he knows the NBA will not be an option and he wants to showcase his talents for potential professional European options?

Hmmmmm.
