Zags Courting Zach LaVine
According to Mason Kelley of the Seattle Times, The Bulldogs are in the early hunt for Bothell guard Zach LaVine. He is currently ranked #140 by Rivals.com, and #59 by ESPN.com.
Few and Co. are making LaVine a top priority early in the 2013 recruiting push and view him as an important piece for the future of the program. They are not alone in their attempts as LaVine lists the following schools on his recruitment list: Washington, UCLA, Texas, Louisville, Gonzaga, California, Arizona, Baylor, Colorado, USC and Utah.
Some think Washington is the early favorite to land LaVine, but don't count out the Zags before all is said and done. I feel his recruiting process is still in its infancy, and with a strong push by GU, he could be swayed to Spokane. We will keep you posted on Zach's recruitment as more news unfolds.
Here are a few clips of Zach in action:

Demarquise Johnson back in the fold?
It seems the previous reports to DeMarquise Johnson's demise as a Gonzaga recruit, may have been a bit exaggerated. According to Scout.com, Johnson is not only still listing the Zags, but has Gonzaga in his top three per his father. The only issues that remain are the potential logjam in the guard and/or wing position. While he seems higher on the Zags than the initial reports indicated, i would still not hold my breath as he may be seeking more potential initial playing time.
Ryan Spangler Plays in Oklahoma All-Star Game
While playing in the 2011 Faith 7 Oklahoma All-Star game, Ryan Spangler was asked why he wanted to go to school across the country in Spokane, WA. He responded, “I know it’s far off, but I like winning and they’re always in the NCAA Tournament, I would rather go somewhere far and win rather than stay somewhere close and lose.”
Spangler is not leaving the OK State without having left a mark, His senior season was spent racking up averages of 29.2 points, 17.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. He also Shot 72 percent from the field, 70 percent from the charity stripe. He currently holds the state record for rebounds, and the school record for scoring, rebounds, and blocked shots. Spangler left Oklahoma as the Basketball Coaches Association POY, the Gatorade POY, and a Parade All-American. He said he plans to major in Business at Gonzaga.
A Lucky freshman, Spangler will get a chance to travel home this season when the Zags face the OK State Cowboys in Stillwater. Good Luck Ryan!

Demarquise Johnson?
According to ESPN.com Insider, Demarquise Johnson is no longer interested in the Zags. Id imagine the recent additions to the wing, ie. Guy Landry, and the logjam at guard is influencing his decision. The Bryce Jones debacle cant be helping matters either.
